ADS-DatabaseEngine
Mission
critical applications developed with Xbase++ are using an innovative
technology from Alaska Software to abstract the application from the
underlying database management system. The Alaska ADS-DatabaseEngine
makes use of this unique technology to give Xbase++ developers
transparent access to the Advantage Database Server. This way Xbase++
applications can instantly become Client/Server Applications using
state of the art technology.
Dynamic DBMS usage
Using Alaska Software's innovative DatabaseEngine Technology, the
ADS-DatabaseEngine can be loaded at application runtime to access an
Advantage Database Server. This results in a freedom of choice. The
developer can decide to deploy applications supporting Clipper
compatible DBF/NTX tables or Client/Server databases managed by the
Advantage Database Server.
Remote and local data
You can load as many different DatabaseEngines in your application as
you want. In addition, you can mix feature sets of different
DatabaseEngines to dynamically build your own DatabaseEngine at
runtime. For example, you can use the ADS-DatabaseEngine for network
data and the FOXDBE of Alaska Xbase++ to run local queries
simultaneously.
Transaction processing and
session support
The ADS-DatabaseEngine contains parts of the forthcoming Data Access
Chain (DAC) technology of Alaska Software. With DAC technology you have
access to Client/Server features like session management and user
authentication, transaction processing, and local support in form of
codepages and collation table setup.
Management console
The ADS-DatabaseEngine also includes a management console for the
Advantage Database Server, written entirely in Alaska Xbase++ with full
source code included.
Supports Xbase++ and the Alaska
Web Application Adaptor
Alaska Software uses innovative technologies in all our different
product lines. The ADS-DatabaseEngine can be used with Alaska Xbase++,
the Alaska Web Application Adaptor, and all forthcoming Alaska Software
products.
