InstallAnywhere 2011 Enterprise Edition

InstallAnywhere 2011 Enterprise is a multiplatform installation software to author cross-Platform Installers.

InstallAnywhere is the leading multiplatform development solution for software producers who need to deliver a professional and consistent cross platform installation experience for desktop and server applications.
From a single project file and build environment, InstallAnywhere enables developers to create reliable installations for the broadest range of current platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris, AIX , HP-UX, and IBM iSeries.

Overview

If you develop applications for multiple platforms, trying to manually create installation software for each one is a time-consuming and error-prone process.
It often leads to release delays and installation errors that frustrate end users and increase your support costs.

InstallAnywhere makes it easy for even the most novice cross platform installation developer to create professional installation software for virtually any platform.
It is available in two editions (Enterprise and Standard) and in two languages (English and Japanese).

Reduce software development time
• Build an installation project in minutes with the Project Wizard and Advanced Designer – no coding needed
• Install software on multiple platforms using a single installation project
• Create installers of your most complex applications with advanced customization and configuration options and accessibility support

Impress end users with customized installations
• Create installers that match your company and product branding using custom graphics, animation, and transparent images
• Automatically localize installing text in 31 different languages
• Give multiplatform installations the platform-specific functionality they need using extensive set of standard actions and custom code APIs

Lower QA and support costs
• Get software to market faster by simplifying documentation and accelerating the QA process
• Capture, test, maintain, and use installing requirements throughout the development process with InstallAnywhere Collaboration
• Cut support costs by reducing end-user problems when installing multiple platforms

What's new in InstallAnywhere 2011

• Expanded Platform Support - InstallAnywhere 2011 supports the latest and most updated platforms including Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), SUSE Linux 11.3, Ubuntu 9.10, Solaris 11, HP-UX 11i, AIX 7.1, IBM i5/OS, Z/OS, RHEL 6 and Fedora 14.
• Enhanced Merge Modules Features - provides a single uninstaller that will work with your main project as well as any other merge modules. This new capability reduces potential uninstall errors and saves time for the set up author.
• Extended External Resource Bundle Support - enables the localization of installer strings. Merge modules can now leverage the external resource bundles from the parent as well.
• Enhanced Installation Logging - merge modules now have installation logs in addition to the parent log files. Developers also have the ability to consolidate the parent and merge module log files. All logging related settings have been consolidated into a single log settings task.
• Enhanced Support for Third-Party Compression Algorithms - allows set up authors to expand 7-Zip (LZMA) and TAR compressed archives on their target system offering the ability to expand these archives in a fast and reliable manner.
• JVM Download at Runtime - gives the option to download a JVM from the Internet in real time if the JVM is not found on the end user machine. This capability not only saves time, but provides a smaller footprint for the installer package.
• Complex Rule Expressions with Multiple Operators - provides the ability to write complex rule expressions (and/or/not) with the application logic. These complex rule expressions help set up authors to better mirror their complex business logic.
